I made a video explaining this example on tiny.cc/puzzleclub
Before clues are released, only a single picture will be on the page for each of the codewords.
When the puzzle goes live, there will be a clue on the page.
This clue will lead you to a location somewhere in the school.
In his example, the clue is:
Using the Code Sheet we can convert this to:
So we look for the next clue, the password at the big gum tree.
At the location you should find clues to the password for your puzzle. In this case there are two pictures and an indication that the word has six letters.
_ _ _ _ _ _
These are pictures of bubblegum and a hexnut. From this we can figure out the clue is:
Now we add the password to the codeword's URL
cryptickoalas.com/example/gumnut
Click on the link to see the puzzle
Reading the text you'll notice the unusual capitalisation. Four letters are capitalised:
There are five pictures but two of them are the same
If we combine the two we get the name
This is the last name of of the author and illustrator of Snugglepot and Cuddlepie, May Gibbs. All the solutions are the last names of real people (or the name they are known as).
We go to the Solutions page by clicking the button on the home page. There we enter GIBBS as our answer. Make sure you include your student email and group name to get a prize.
The code sheet above comes from a site called Pizzled Pint. It is explained on their basics page. They link to other resources that can help you, for examples to unscramble anagrams. You can look at all of their puzzle sets on their website puzzle archive.
There are videos on YouTube where people go through the process of solving these puzzle sets. This video solves the puzzle set for December 2020.
